Questions and Answers for Bittrex Global GmbH (Liechtenstein) Customers

The information below applies only to customers of Bittrex Global, GmbH (Liechtenstein). It does not apply to customers of Bittrex Global (Bermuda) Ltd.

As previously notified, trading on Bittrex Global has been suspended and client relationships with Bittrex Global have been terminated. All activity on the platform – except the ability to withdraw – has been disabled.

Customers that did not withdraw fiat or digital assets by 4 January 2024 are now considered to be in default.

Please review our frequently asked questions below on what happens next.

How do I know if my account is Bittrex Global GmbH (Liechtenstein) or Bittrex Global (Bermuda) Ltd.?

Please log-in to your account, click on the down arrow next to your email at the top-right of the page, and click on 'Account Settings'. You will be taken directly to the 'My Profile' page. This page lists account specific details, such as your name, and username. You will see which entity your account is associated with under 'Exchange'. If your account is registered under Bittrex Global (Bermuda) Ltd., this article does not apply to you.

What happens to my account now?

Bittrex Global has now completed the process of liquidating long-tail assets and assessing fees for customers in default.

Which tokens will be liquidated and what is the timeline?

In order to ensure the proper protection of all assets on the Bittrex Global platform, we will no longer support tokens outside of the tokens listed below:

  • Bitcoin (BTC)
  • Ether (ETH)
  • Tether (USDT)
  • USD Coin (USDC)
  • Cardano (ADA)
  • Ripple (XRP)
  • Dogecoin (DOGE)
  • Tron (TRX)
  • Litecoin (LTC)
  • Stellar (XLM)

All long-tail tokens remaining on the platform (not listed above) have completed the process of liquidation by Bittrex Global into Ether (ETH). This process began on 4 January 2024. A customer's claim to long-tail tokens has now been replaced with a claim for ETH, at the rate at which it was liquidated on the actual date of liquidation (which may vary). The relevant amount of ETH has been deposited back into customer accounts. Please see this article for information on the conversion rate for coins liquidated to ETH.

Will all my coins be liquidated?

Besides the coins listed above, there are some coins that still have value (and so will not be deleted) but that are unable to be liquidated. These will be redeposited in full back into customer accounts no later than 30 January. Coins that were determined to have "zero-value" have been deleted. Please see this article for more details.

What if a wallet for my coin is offline during the liquidation?

Currencies outside of the tokens listed above that are held in offline wallets have been liquidated to ETH following the above procedure, where possible.

Can I withdraw my funds that are being liquidated still?

During the liquidation, any assets that were being liquidated were unavailable for withdrawal. Once the liquidation was complete, withdrawals for the liquidated asset (ETH) or the tokens that have not been liquidated and instead have been redeposited into customer accounts are now enabled. Online assets not subject to liquidation will have been available for withdrawal.

Why can’t I see my balance of certain tokens any longer?

During this liquidation process you may been unable to view all your coin balances.  An entry in your user history will reflect the liquidation process, once started.

I have read that you will start charging my account fees. How will fees be charged on my account?

Beginning 4 January 2024, default fees on assets will be charged automatically on accounts in default, in accordance with applicable laws. The amount is based on costs incurred by Bittrex Global in maintaining assets in default on the platform and will be reviewed every six months.

Bittrex Global will take 1% of the asset balance per asset per month, with a minimum fee of up to $20.

Additionally, users that are not in good standing from a compliance perspective (for example, failure to provide verification, source of funds details, etc.) will have an additional compliance default fee of $50 a month assessed until their account is brought into compliance. This is a flat fee per month.

I only hold small balances in my account; will the default fees take my account into the negative?

For customers that hold an asset balance that is less than the minimum fee, the whole balance will be taken, and no additional amount will be charged thereafter. We will not take your account into a negative balance by charging fees.

I only have a small balance in my account; why do you keep emailing me?
We were required by law to notify all Liechtenstein customers whose accounts held any balance that those accounts went into default on 4 January, even if that balance was not withdrawable. From now on we will only be contacting customers with a withdrawable balance to encourage them to withdraw those funds from the platform.

While tokens are being liquidated in January, which tokens will be charged fees?

In January, default fees will only be assessed on coins not being consolidated to ETH (see list from above) and Euros (EUR). Fees will not be deducted from the asset TRX during January.

What happens to fees after January?

Once all long-tail assets have been either converted to ETH or (for tokens that still have value and so have not been deleted) redeposited in an account, we will begin taking fees from the account as described above.
