Two-factor authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of security for your Bittrex Global account. 2FA is designed to ensure that you are the only person who can log in to your account and can perform certain actions such as depositing, withdrawing, or trading.

When enabled, 2FA requires you to enter an extra passcode to access your Bittrex Global account. The user must provide their password and a six-digital verification code that is automatically displayed in their authentication application. The authentication application can be downloaded on a trusted device such as your smartphone or personal computer.

2FA protects you from potential attackers that possess your username and password.

Device transferring - Remove 2FA with my Secret Code

If you are using a new phone, you will need to transfer your Google Authenticator to your new phone and manually add each app with the secret key or QR code you initially used to enable it. Google does not have great documentation on this process, but try these articles:

If you are unable to remove 2FA yourself, submit a Request for 2FA Support from your Bittrex Global account email. Once received, our support staff will reply with further instructions for removal.

If you are having trouble with your two-factor authenticator, review Troubleshooting 2FA.

Troubleshooting 2FA

The typical reason for two-factor failures is that the clock on your phone has drifted. We only have a two minute window for 2FA confirmations so if your clock has drifted beyond that, you will not be able to log in. Please make sure your phone is configured to sync your time with the cellular network.

If this does not solve your 2FA issue or your issue does not seem to be related to your device's clock drifting, review the Google Two-Factor Authentication documentation for assistance:
